A collection of 22 paintings and drawings which began from a 6 day visit to the Gallipoli peninsula in 2004.The works are the result of Margaret Hadfield’s visual exploration of the present and past history of wars. The artist “felt the spirits of the past”, winning the inaugural Gallipoli Art Prize with ‘Ataturk’s Legacy’. Six of the works on display were exhibited by the Australian Government between 2010 and 2012 in the Netherlands, Turkey and France.
This is a special gathering of the paintings for the Anzac Centenary year as many of the works are in private collections and 2 are on loan from the Gallipoli Club Sydney. This exhibition is proudly sponsored by Queanbeyan City Council.
